Frequently Asked Questions

Will a chemical peel remove deep lines or wrinkles?

A glycolic acid peel will not remove deep lines. Laser resurfacing is recommended in most cases where wrinkles are advanced. However, a peel will often improve the tone, texture, smoothness and appearance of skin.

Is a chemical peel painful?

No, there is a mild sensation of "tingling" or a slight itchiness while the glycolic acid is in contact with the skin. Once the peel is neutralized, the skin feels refreshed and smooth without any discomfort.

Can I go right back to work and/or go out into the sun after having a chemical peel?

In most cases, work or other normal activities may be resumed immediately. You may go outside, but it’s essential to apply sunscreen for at least a few days following the peel, as your skin may be slightly more susceptible to sun exposure during this time.
