Juvederm Voluma is the newest hyaluronic acid soft tissue filler to be added to the Juvederm family. As the name suggests, it is used to replace volume to the tissues of the face to restore a more youthful appearance. Rejuvaderm is the only clinic in Northern Alberta to offer this treatment. Dr. Malcolm and Dr. Wong are two of the few physicians that are able to offer Juvederm Voluma in Alberta and the only physicians that are able to offer Juvederm Voluma in Northern Alberta.

What Is Juvederm Voluma?

Juvderm Voluma is the first of its kind hyaluronic acid dermal filler specifically designed to restore age-related volume loss in the mid-face, particularly the cheeks, cheekbones, and around the chin. It is the newest soft tissue filler available in the Juvederm family.

Full cheeks are a key marker of youth. The mid-face is one of the first areas to show the signs of aging. As we age, our skin deflates (thins), descends (sags), or both (loses volume). Bringing back the contours of the cheeks and chin that start to flatten as we age can do wonders for the overall appearance of the face. Replacing volume creates a foundation beneath the surface to support the skin and diminishes the look of the lines and wrinkles that come with aging.

How Does Juvederm Voluma Work?

Juvederm Voluma uses hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the skin, to instantly restore lost facial volume in the cheeks and contour the chin. It is made of the same crosslinked chains as the others in the Juvederm family, but the chains are shorter and more crosslinked so it gives excellent lift capacity. This lift capacity is important when wanting to restore volume to the face. The product also has some free hyaluronic acid which means it is easy to massage and mould to the correct shape once it is injected. It also combines with collagen and elastin (normal components of the skin) to improve the skin’s structure and elasticity, creating a smooth natural look.

When Will I Notice Results? What is the Recovery? How Long Will It Last?

Results are instantly apparent. Patients resume normal daily activities immediately after treatment. Juvederm Voluma lasts longer than the other members of the Juvederm family. Results typically last up to 18 months.  

Juvederm Voluma and Soft Lift

Soft Lift is a new approach to skin rejuvenation that addresses the multiple signs of aging and the face as a whole. An important trend is using volume restoration as part of Soft Lift. Soft Lift uses a combination of Botox Cosmetic, Juvederm Ultra & Ultra Plus, and now Juvederm Voluma dermal filler treatments.
